Alberta Roots 'n' Roll Revue

Alberta Roots ‘n’ Roll Revue:

The Best of Calgary and Edmonton’s Roots Rockers

WHEN: Friday, Jan. 6, 2012. Doors at 8:30 p.m.

WHERE: The Ironwood Stage and Grill, 1229 - 9th Ave. SE.

COST: $10

WHAT: A selection of Calgary and Edmonton’s best up-and-coming roots bands have laid petty civic rivalry aside and teamed up for a music extravaganza! The Alberta Roots ‘n’ Roll Revue will feature:

  • the harmony-rich stylings of Magnolia Buckskin, Calgary’s roots-rock heartbreakers and one of CKUA’s top 100 picks of 2010.

  • the Calgary debut of Robin Woywitka's record The Impossible Address – an album recorded in Mississippi and Edmonton, and a CJSR chart smash.

  • special guest performance by Edmonton's Trevor Tchir, a featured artist of CKUA and CBC Radio 2.

  • local alt-rock mainstays The Ruminants will be previewing material from their upcoming album release.

  • experimental country-prog rock from Edmonton’s Wacousta.

The show will be sequenced in the style of the musical revues of the 1960s. Many of the bands will feature guest spots from their compatriots in an inspiring display of metropolitan peacemaking and provincial solidarity.

Tickets are $10 at the door. Doors at 8:30 pm, Friday, Jan. 6, 2012. The Ironwood Stage and Grill, 1229 - 9th Ave. SE.
